If neither work, e-mail Xana for additional help.

AIM:

For those of you who aren't familiar with AIM, here is a description and a link:

AIM stands for AOL Instant Messenger. It's a program you download to your computer so you can chat with people in real time. You can surf chat rooms too, or crate you own chat room with others on-line. If you download it, you will now be able to chat with most everyone here!

There is also a no download way to use AIM. You can still acquire a screen name and use AIM Express to chat.

Minors Policy:

The minors policy means that you can't participate in members-only functions such as group meetings or be recognized in our members area. If you submit any membership info and you are under the age of 18, that info will not be displayed until you turn 18 and you resubmit your membership request. Anyone over the age of 13 can post on the Message Boards and talk to whomever they like. You don't have to be a member of the Assembly to make Star Wars Jedi costumes or attend conventions and anyone can socialize and talk to whomever they wish at a convention. We would be happy to see minors at the conventions. It is a free country after all. However, minors usually cannot be held responsible for their actions. The Jedi Assembly does not have any legal might to counteract actions that may be taken by minors.

How do I Join?

Go our website at www.thejediassembly.com and join there with your information and picture

ORDERS
The Jedi Council has now organized all the states into their respective Orders, and for those members not in the USA, there is the Outer Rim Order. As we grow and gain more members, many regions will want to split off from their current Orders. Until such time, the current Orders will remain as they are.

Order names-- those too will remain as they are for now. This is an important beginning organizational step for The Jedi Assembly and the Council has many things on its list to discuss including this. All will be decided in time.

What are the Order forums for? These forums are for memebrs to post local conventions, meetings, get-togethers, costuming events and so forth. It is for everyone in their respective Orders to get to know who is in their Order, and where.

How do you get elected or invited to be on the council? What does a Jedi Assembly member have to do to get the council to consider a new member to the council?

A member is invited to serve on the Council when he or she has shown significant contribution to the Assembly on the message boards, the website, and other areas. Seniorority has not been a factor in determining who is invited on the Council.

MODERATORS

The message board moderators are mostly Council Members. Those who are not, have much knowledge and have shown much interest in the forums they moderate. Again, seniorority is not a determining factor choosing moderators.

Are the Clone Wars Cartoon Jedi Costumes Considered Cannon?

Yes. We DO consider the Clone Wars Cartoon Jedi costumes to be SW cannon. Exact, recognizable replicas of those are acceptable here.

Text colors

There is no way to eliminate certain colors from the board's drop down menue. We DO ask that people post in readable colors, compatible with the window colors, if they wish to have their posts read.

There is also no way to alter your profile so that all your posts are in a certain color. That has to be done every time you post.

How do I insert pictures into a thread?

There is a way to upload pictures directly to these boards via a new feature, BUT it will be expensive and more of a hassle than than it's worth.

You have to have the pictures hosted to another site, and THEN insert the link between the picture tags......... [.img]Link[/img] But without that period after the first bracket.

Like this:

The link:
http://www.dewbackwing.com/phpbb/images/smiles/podracer.gif

Inside tags............ minus the period after first bracket.:

Not receiving reply messages after the upgrade

Bookmarks (copyied from the ProBoards Support Forum):
We are introducing a new system to replace the notifications system. Using the bookmarks system, you will be able to bookmark different threads and have quick access to them from your profile screen.
For each bookmark, you can specify whether you would like to receive a PM, an email, or receive no notification when a new post is made in the thread that is bookmarked. You will only receive notification that a thread has been updated one time until you view the thread again. This means that if 10 people post before you get back to a thread, you still only get notified once. Once you view the thread, you may then receive notifications again. An option will be available to set what your default notification action should be for threads you bookmark. For example, you can set your default action to be to PM you. Then any time you bookmark a thread in the future, it will automatically set that bookmark to notify you by PM of any updates.

Here follows the updated Assembly FAQ section from the main website.

What is The Jedi Assembly?
The Jedi Assembly is an online Fan-Based group for Star Wars costuming enthusiasts. The Assembly makes appearances and gathers at conventions and Sci-Fi gatherings across the world.

Who can Join the Assembly?

Anyone, except minors under the age of eighteen, can join that has already, or is in the process of obtaining, a Jedi costume. This costume can be from any of the SW movies or what has been written about in the SW Expanded Universe. No Fallen-Jedi or Sith practitioner costuming is being accepted at this time. Costumes must consist of more than a house-robe and flashlight. Please see our Charter in regards to Costuming requirements. The Jedi Assembly links page has some really nice websites that you should visit for Jedi costuming hints and tips. Please visit our Message Boards for more personal costuming hints.

Why can only Jedi costumers join?
There are many exceptional Star Wars costuming sites on the Internet that welcome Star Wars costumers from around the world. The Fighting 501st Legion of Stormtroopers and The Rebel Legion are the two most well known of the bunch. The Assembly is Jedi exclusive. If you have either a Stormtrooper/Imperial/Dark-Jedi/Sith costume or a Rebel costume, then we invite you to check out the above-mentioned sites on our links page.

So what exactly does the "No minors" policy mean?
The No minor’s policy means that you can't participate in members-only functions such as group meetings or be recognized in our member’s area. If you submit any membership info and you are under the age of 18, that info will not be displayed until you turn 18 and you resubmit your membership request. Anyone over the age of 12 can post on the Message Boards and talk to whomever they like. As always, caution is warranted when talking with anyone over the Internet.

Please visit the JOIN page. Please remember you MUST be 18 to join. You must submit your Date of Birth to have your membership request approved.

I am a member of another costuming group. Can I still join The Jedi Assembly?
You certainly can! All are welcome here as long as you eventually have a Jedi costume. Remember, minors are not allowed.

If I have a suggestion for the website or message board, what do I do?
Feel free to email all concerns, questions, or comments to: jedicouncil@thejediassembly.com

For message boards problems, contact Xana: Xana@thejediassembly.com

Who is the Assembly Jedi Council?
The Jedi Assembly Jedi Council consists of Xana, Shoshana Win, Nova Darklighter, Schph Gochi, Jauhzmynn Enz, An’Joh Zaji, Leda Em-Borr, and Cor-Al Gelker, Mon-Jas
Charan.

What do they do for the Assembly?
The Jedi Council makes critical decisions for Assembly members and the organization. Council duties include help running the Assembly message board, designing logos and graphics, giving costuming advice and being liasons between costuming groups. Assembly Jedi Council members are held to a standard that includes being involved on our Assembly Message Board (as time permits and life allows) with advice being shared and questions answered in a timely fashion, having an active email account and checking that email account daily when possible to keep up with Assembly business emails when they arrive, and abiding by all rules set forth in our Assembly Jedi Code.

Who is the Assembly Webmaster?
The Jedi Assembly Webmaster is Anim8r (Andrew Borno).

How can I become a member of The Jedi Assembly Jedi Council?
There are no specific guidelines at this time regarding promotions to a Council position. Basically the Council Members look for creativity, dedication to the group, an "official" membership, and the ability to handle tasks if offered. Seniority does not influence promotions at this time.

What are the Assembly Orders?
Assembly Orders are regions of the country that members are placed in when they join. Further explanation of the Orders can be found on our Message Board and on our Charter page.
